NEW UGG STORE MANCHESTER

i no i should have taken a picture but the new ugg store opened on the same row of shops as ted baker in manchester.
as advised by tash i was walking along and seeing what catches my eye, the only thing that really stood out for me was very very simple!! at the door of the ugg store was some 'VIP' ropes with a shop assistant guarding them. after standing around having a nosey for longer that is socially acceptable and looking inside i found out there was nothing special going on!! a lot of crowds and fuss (mainly by me and my bf) for nothing... not celebrity or anything! anyone could go in. they just made it look like something amazing was going on and attracting a lot of attention...for a bit of rope...GENIUS!!

soooo that got me tinking! on my 'launch night' guest list only! red carpet VIP ropes, bouncers "your names not down you're not coming in!"... make it look VERY special! could film a fake launch night with fake papz and everything : )

AP storms the streets

great ambient media campaign, similar to what i want to achieve with my out door performances. this campaign is head turning yet not too 'dirty' as agent provocateur can be seen. a bit 'george michael'

continued, LOVE AP window, food being sexy but not in a slutty in your face way. lovely bright bold colurs which i always like : )

examples of 'theatre' fronts, obv these are tacky cheap ones but just examples to get a rough idea...

trees trees trees

OBV interested in prop design, possibly keep it as simple as poss, if plays change round quite quickly then dont want to spend too much on amazing props wen the acting is supposed to be the main feature.
however these are my cute little tree samples, at the moment very small wud be bigger in real life, with items of clothing hanging from the branches

smirnoff flyer

this is a flyer iv had for years!! i like the pop up style of the flyer as you can see its something worth keeping (even though the line u is rubbish!) this could be an in store leaflet for discount or to advertise the plays being shown.

XOXO new york store had live girls 'living' in their window, getting dressed trying on clothes, emailling sitting on the couch normal girlie things and it attracted a LOT of attention...mainly males being perves!!

my new fave blog

http://thewindowdisplayblog.wordpress.com/

love this blog and actually feel this is what i want to do after university (even tho my mum says its not a good career with not much money!)

have done my research into how to get into this field selfridges do an internship, harvey nics havent got back to me (how rude) most stores say that i will ave to contact them ndividually. luckily my current boss knows the manager of selfridges in the trafford centre and another personal trainer at my gym knows a very successful woman in the field. pleased with my contacts i will have to find the time to contact them over xmas : )

ABC home

Love these xmas window displays however not relevant coz its xmassy and ted doesnt want that but still think its pretty : )

Selfridges window

i just love this window display in london based on fairytales with a strong britishness about them. Love the bright lights!!

well is seems my idea has been done before!! however looking at tis youtube post this is exactly wot i DO NOT want for my ted baker store front. Rather than the characters being annoying and waving at customers i would prefer it if they would just perform. the fact that the customers would not be able to hear the dialogue would hopefully draw them into the store. i find the characters in this example very annoying and would draw me AWAY from the store rather than persuade me inside. also i would not have anybody outside handing out flyers. i think this is tacky for a store as high profile and classy as ted baker.

Just amazing, video of a woman blowing air, the scarf in front then moves as if the woman has just blown the piece. WOW beautifully done!!

stage shows

Stage Show list.....
Billy Elliott
Cats / Phantom of the opera
Blood Brothers
Calender girls
Midsummer nights dream
My fair lady
Oliver!
Joseph and the technicolour dreamcoat
Peter Pan

also thinking of books adapted into plays by roald dahl (such as james and the giant peach, the twits etc etc)
stand up comedians
adapted pantomimes
showstopper.... a concept that the audience contributes to the show, eg characters, settings etc etc

paul smith

rival paul smith uses bright bold colours in their widow displays, however they are lacking a sense of humour. that is the major difference between paul smith and ted baker, i need to make sure that i get the sense of humour across in my work. if it is not done properly it wil be a disaster!!!!!! oh no!!

I just LOVE these figures that glow, think that something similar such as mannequins that light up. if i choose to use my window as a stage these could be displayed in the window when the actors are away. however as ted baker do not usually put mannequins in their windows i am not too sure if i could get away with it : S

amazing metal pieces i found in manchesters xmas markets outside the town hall. i love how big and chunky they are, yet elegant and the metal shines and is quite magical. could be part of a set design in store windows.

more harvey nics pics i love the store window very sparkly swirly and glittery : )
